Chorltonians First team continued their battle to avoid the drop with  a tough encounter at Newton Heath. After a hard fought opening 20 minutes, Chorlts began to get on top  and deservedly took the lead through captain Andrew Pearce who powered  an unstoppable header past the Newton Heath 'keeper1-0 at half time always looked a precarious lead and so it was to  prove as Newton Heath drew level with just 18 minutes remaining.However, Chorlts merely proved their resilience and stepped up a gear Manager Nick McGilligan's introduction of Darrel Hadfield proved to be  inspired as he scored with a chance set up by the impressive Dwayne Maynard. 2-1 was soon to become 3-1 as Maynard rounded off a superb  move to give Chorltonians yet another win that should be enough to see  them safe.
